The Florham Park Volunteer Fire Department’s new Chief is Jonathan Young. He succeeds his father, Robert Young, who served in that position for 7 of the last 12 years. The Board of Fire Engineers for 2010 is comprised of four Chief fire officers elected by the members of the Department. They were appointed by Mayor Scott Eveland, confirmed by the Council and sworn-in by Borough Clerk Sheila Williams at the annual reorganization meeting, January 5.

Jon Young brings a wealth of professional training and experience to his new position with 12 of his 19 years of service as an officer and good knowledge of construction from his work. He had been Rescue Captain, is a key mentor in that training for both regular and 16-18 year old Junior firefighters, and has used that ability to direct successful accident victim extrications. The past few years Jon served as Assistant Chief, then Deputy Chief.
