Florham Park’s Volunteer Firefighters were kept busy during the first four months of 2010 as they answered 119 alarms and participated in sixteen sessions for training and mandatory qualifications, according to Fire Chief Jon Young. The busiest period occurred during the unusually heavy rain storm on March 13 when numerous calls were answered for flooded residential basements, with pump-outs continuing all morning and through the afternoon. Young noted that the most serious incident was an intense fast-moving fire on April 12 in a condominium. That fire was quickly contained by the firefighters with only minor extension to the adjoining unit.
